Sustainability

Better choices, made with care. From materials and production to packaging and waste reduction, we’re building DEJOILAB with consideration at every step; and a commitment to keep improving our impact on the planet.

Production
We aim to keep as much of our production chain local as possible, helping reduce transport distances while giving us closer oversight of quality and the partners we work with. Our screen printing is completed in Australia, and we use water- based inks where possible to reduce the use of traditional plastisol inks. As our processes evolve, we’ll continue refining our approach and sharing more about the choices we make.

Packaging
We’ve thought about what happens after your order arrives; not just how it looks when it gets there.
Clean, considered, and designed to leave less behind.
• Zipper bag: made from fully recycled material and designed to be recycled again.
• Eco shipping label: plastic-free and recyclable.
• Tags + stickers: made from recycled stock and recyclable after use.
• Mailer: plant-based, contains no traditional poly plastic, and is compostable. Under the right composting conditions, it can break down in around 6 months, compared with conventional plastic mailers that may take up to 300 hundreds years to break down.

What We’re Still Working On
We’re building this as we grow; and we’d rather show you what’s actually in progress than fill the page with vague promises.
More organic cotton: we’re exploring better organic cotton options for future drops, without losing the heavyweight feel, softness and structure we care about.
Textile recycling: we’re working towards partnering with a textile recycling company, so samples, damaged pieces and other textile waste can have a next life instead of becoming waste.
Giving back locally: we’re shaping a plan to reinvest in the Australian community and support projects that make a real difference to quality of life. More on that soon.
